From four chords to your next idea
Start with the supplied progression and press Play. Change one chord, try a new direction, or switch the genre to hear the same task in a different musical setting. You do not need to know Roman numerals to begin.
Keep a chord you like with its lock, then explore another variation. Undo brings your previous idea back. Bass and drums provide context; turn them off when you want to focus on the harmony.
What makes a progression work?
A progression is a sequence of chords. The way one chord leads to the next, the voicing, the rhythm and the bass all affect its character. The starting directions are creative suggestions, not rules about how music must feel.
The key sets the note palette. Changing it transposes the idea; changing the tempo changes its speed. Use the chord names to learn what you chose, then follow the related lessons when you want a deeper explanation.
Take the notes or take the sound
MIDI carries notes, timing and tempo so you can choose your own instruments in music software. It does not carry the preview sounds. WAV carries the rendered sound of the current idea.
These downloads are prepared in your browser without an account. TunePal’s app is a separate place to generate and shape new stems; opening it does not automatically import this progression. Keep the file and use it as a reference for your next session.
Common questions
Is this chord generator free?
Yes. You can play, edit and download the idea without signing up. The separate TunePal app uses its own account and credits.
Will the MIDI sound exactly like the preview?
The MIDI contains the musical events, not audio. Its sound depends on the instruments in your music software. Choose WAV when you want the rendered preview sound.
Does this create an AI song?
No. This tool assembles musical patterns and plays built-in sounds in your browser. It does not call an AI generation service or spend credits.
