Name a chord from notes you choose
Start with C, E and G, or tap notes on and off to supply a chord of your own. These notes sound at the same time rather than as a melody. The tool compares their pitch classes with supported major, minor, diminished, augmented, suspended, seventh and sixth chord shapes.
Hear chord previews the actual voicing. Download chord MIDI keeps those notes together at 120 BPM. Notes that do not match a supported name remain yours to hear and export; an unfamiliar shape is not a wrong musical choice.
A voicing can have more than one useful name
C, E, G and A can describe C6 or an A minor seventh chord with C in the bass. The tool lists exact supported alternatives without an accuracy score. The lowest sounding note determines the shown inversion; musical context helps choose a useful name.
Optional controls accept note names such as C4 E4 G4 or a supported chord symbol such as Am7 or C/E. Move a selected note into the bass to change the actual voicing, or transpose every note by a semitone. Undo restores the preceding notes.
Keep the notes and choose your own sound
This is a manual note and chord-symbol lookup, not a microphone listener, MIDI-file importer or audio chord detector. Three different pitch classes are needed for the supported complete chord shapes. Fewer notes or unsupported extensions receive an explanation instead of a fabricated name.
Octaves follow scientific pitch notation: middle C is C4, MIDI 60. MIDI keeps performance instructions, not the reference tone. A chord link contains only bounded note choices and opens silently. It does not save to a TunePal account or automatically import into the app.
Common questions
Why can the same notes have different chord names?
Chord names also depend on root, bass and musical context. The tool shows every exact match in its supported vocabulary; its order is a display choice rather than a certainty score.
Can I enter notes or a chord symbol?
Yes. Optional inputs accept up to eight notes such as D♭4 F4 A♭4, or supported symbols including major/minor, dim, aug, sus2/sus4, 7, maj7, m7, 6 and m6. A slash can supply a bass note. Unsupported symbols keep your previous notes.
Does MIDI include this sound or a whole song?
No. It contains the selected voicing in one 4/4 bar at 120 BPM. Your music software supplies the instrument. No email or account is needed to download it.
